It looks like Sonos will be busy in the early summer. Rumour has it that both the successor to the popular portable speaker Roam and Sonos’ long-awaited headphones will see the light of day in June.
According to renowned tech journalist Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Sonos is busy preparing its new Roam 2 for launch. And it looks like they’re not stopping there – the long-rumoured Sonos headphones will also be ready at the same time.
What’s new about Roam 2?
The original Sonos Roam has been a favourite of many since it launched in 2021, but it has also had some weaknesses, such as the lack of multipoint connectivity on Bluetooth and the fact that it doesn’t always automatically switch between Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Sonos has reportedly rectified this with the Roam 2.

In addition to the upgraded hardware, the Roam 2 also gets a new touch panel on the top that makes it easier to play and control the volume. Design-wise, it will reportedly look more like its big brothers Era 100 and 300.
New app on the way
Things are also happening on the app front. Gurman claims that Sonos is working on a brand new app tailored to the new portable products. However, there have been issues getting existing products to work with the new app, so initially only the Roam 2 and headphones will be supported. Support for Move and the older Roam will have to wait until later.
Even more Sonos?
In addition, rumour has it that there will be updates to several bestsellers like Arc, Sub and Era 100, as well as a brand new TV streamer.
If the rumours are true, it looks like Sonos fans have a lot to look forward to in the coming year. And if Sonos headphones deliver as we hope, it could be a great year for wireless head-fi.
