Superb (and ultra expensive) from Bang & Olufsen

When you make something in limited numbers, the price often gets steep, and when Bang & Olufsen does it, it’s almost a guarantee of a high price. Just look at this.

Beosystem 72-22 is a complete system to celebrate the 50th anniversary of B&O’s Beogram 4000 turntable. So the name means 1972-2022.

The turntable is the heart of the system, which also includes a pair of active wireless Beolab 18 speakers, a Beoremote Halo remote control and a handmade cabinet with space for vinyl records.

High price

Beautiful as hell and with an equally diabolical pricetag. Only 30 sets of the Beosystem 72-22 will be made, and only for the North American market, where the price is set at $45,000. Plus tax.

And we who thought the revived version of the Beogram 4000c turntable was expensive …

There is no mention of a similar system for the European market, but one can only hope. And pray for a more affordable price.
