The ultimate test came when raspberry juice was spilled on a white knitted jumper. Could the LG washing machine really handle such an impossible task or would the sweater be lost forever?
We’ll come back to Mission Impossible, but first let’s establish that if you’re looking for an efficient washing machine, this one from LG is a good one to consider.
We put it through its paces during the test period. Not least the pile of ammonia-stinking rags that had been used to wipe up the family puppy’s small and large ‘accidents’.
In such cases, you’re grateful for a washing machine with a steam function. And fabric softener that is even auto-dosed.
This was the smelliest wash of the test, and it was handled with flying colours.

Much less microplastics
For years, we’ve heard about the risk of humans releasing microplastics in wastewater through personal care products and laundry, which nature takes forever to break down.
But this washing machine comes with a microplastic programme that, according to the manufacturer, emits 60 percent less microplastics than normal washing. Use the programme to wash synthetic fabrics such as workout clothes.
And how does it work, you ask? By reducing the movement of the machine so that there is less friction.
Of course, we can’t test whether this type of washing produces more or less microplastic, but we recognise that this is an issue that LG is focusing on.
An app that works
LG’s ThinQ app, relaunched in 2023, is a robust and reliable app that has clearly overcome whatever teething problems there may have been. Connecting the washing machine to the app is as simple as scanning a QR code and following the step-by-step instructions.
And once connected to the app, it’s intuitively simple to control the machine, select a programme, delay the start time to a specific time and of course get a notification when the wash is ready.

Efficient and fast
Every time you load clothes into the LG washing machine and start a wash, it starts weighing the clothes. And you can follow along on the round screen at the top of the machine. The scale is used to calculate the amount of water and detergent, and it worked every single time we washed during the test period.
The machine washed consistently clean and removed unpleasant odours, but it can actually do it incredibly quickly. TurboWash 360 is a technology built into the machine, which basically means that the machine washes with four nozzles.
This means it only takes 39 minutes to complete a quick wash, but even without selecting the specific turbo programme, we find that the machine generally washes really fast.
But can it handle a raspberry stain on white knitwear?
We’re pretty excited and, for good measure, we also give the stain a spot spray. After all, it’s the hand wash programme at only 30 degrees, which is used to avoid completely ruining the shirt.
After less than 45 minutes, the wash is complete. And the stain is gone. Not so much as a hint of it remains. The stain spray probably helped, but nevertheless, it was the washing machine that did the job.
Conclusion
LG’s washing machine takes the top spot among the best we’ve tested. With lightning-fast programmes, powerful stain removal and smart features like microplastic filtration and easy-to-use app control, it delivers on all parameters. It even passed the ultimate raspberry stain test with flying colours.
