Review: Electrolux Comfort 600 BTU 12000 (EXP34U339CW)

Comfortable cooling for hot nights

The Electrolux Comfort 600 serves up fast cooling without too much noise. Unfortunately, the app is unstable, so you'll have to take care of the comfort yourself

Installing an air conditioning system takes a man – or woman. In any case, the box of Electrolux Comfort 600 BTU 12000 was a bit of a pain in the arse to get delivered and hauled into the property.

The last time we had a Comfort air conditioning unit for testing was in 2023, when the Electrolux Comfort 600 BTU 14000 was rated five stars.

This time we are testing a unit with less cooling power. We’ve gone from 14,000 BTU to 12,000 BTU (as the names suggest). Instead, the Comfort 600 12000 BTU boasts lower dB figures. So you get a lower noise level.

The Electrolux Comfort 600 BTU 12000 (EXP34U339CW) is the scrappiest model in the test. You get a flex hose, nozzles and a hose for condensation. (Photo: Natasja Broström)

Our test experience also has several similarities, unfortunately. The Electrolux app is still unstable and the Comfort 600 12000 BTU is, like its predecessor, a clunker. The weight has increased by 1.5 kilos. The wheels are fine, but the Comfort 600 12000 BTU requires space to get around. The unit is half a metre wide and 70 centimetres high.

Installation

Air conditioners seem to come standard in cardboard boxes with loose bottoms. You need long arms to lift the box high enough to unpack the Comfort 600 12000 BTU. The unit is fixed to the bottom of the box.

The small plastic hose supplied is used to drain condensation if you use the air conditioner to dehumidify. (Photo: Natasja Broström)

Conversely, the method is probably necessary. Air conditioners weigh more, so it’s easier to lift a cardboard box than to lift a 30+kg unit out of a box.

The Comfort 600 12000 BTU is easy to set up. The unit uses only one flex hose. The hose’s plastic folds can be pulled and stretched to reach where you want to send the excess heat out.

The air conditioner was the easiest to install and mount in the test. The sleeve for mounting at the back of the unit was already on the hose. Only the nozzle at the other end had to be attached myself.

Easy and fast. The Electrolux Comfort 600 BTU 12000 was the easiest to install and commission in the test. (Photo: Natasja Broström)

The equipment in the cardboard box is sparse. You don’t get a remote control or a bracket to hold the hose to the window. If you want a bracket and a plastic seal for the window, you’ll have to buy it yourself. Expect an additional cost of between 200 and 600 DKK.

Operation and app

The Electrolux app is connected by holding down the power button on the panel until the Wi-Fi icon (the classic waffle) flashes. Setup and connection worked flawlessly. The app’s interface is simple and straightforward – some would say sparse.

You can set a timer, raise or lower the temperature and switch between modes and four fan speeds. Control also includes voice assistants Alexa and Google Assistant. All in all, a great tech experience, until it wasn’t.

One morning, the Comfort 600 12000 BTU had decided to leave my Wi-Fi network and refused to come back. I checked the mesh router’s switch between 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz (Comfort 600 12000 BTU will only be on 2.4 Ghz).

I deleted and reinstalled the app. I reset the network log in Comfort 600 12000 BTU by holding the power button until the device gave a long beep.

Nothing helped. The Comfort 600 12000 BTU would no longer show up in the app’s device search.

Without a remote control, I had to operate the unit manually. A bit of a challenge at night when I had to switch on lights or use the light from my smartphone screen to distinguish the icons. The panel icons are backlit.

The buttons are also a bit soft and compliant to press. Several times I was unsure whether I had pressed enough for the device to register.

Cooling and fan

Despite its flaws and barbs, the Comfort 600 12000 BTU does an excellent job. I had a chilled bedroom in a matter of hours (using the timer) and even at a tolerable noise level.

The lowest noise level is 47 dB, which is higher than the quietest participant in the test: Wood’s AC Cortina 12K AirSwitch (WAC1205G). Here the lowest level is 35 dB.

Still, I was able to run the Comfort 600 12000 BTU right under my wall-mounted TV throughout the test. The unit worked alternately at the lowest and medium fan speed and with a desired temperature of 23 degrees. I could hear the wise heads talking to each other on the TV screen.

The panel is easy to use in daylight, but becomes difficult to see when darkness falls. The icons are unlit. (Photo: Natasja Broström)

If the temperature had to drop further, the Comfort 600 12000 BTU worked audibly more and I had to turn up the volume. Or switch to an action film with roars and bangs and not so much muffled conversation.

The Comfort 600 12000 BTU, like all three participants, has a fan function. When the function is switched on, the fan flap slowly tilts up and down. With the help of the fan, the cooled air is not only sent straight out into the room, but better circulated.

The performance of the Comfort 600 12000 BTU is good, but not as good as what I experienced with the Wilfa Chill 12K Connected.

Conclusion

Electrolux’s mobile air conditioning worked well and purposefully to cool down indoors. The unit is fast, though not as fast as the AirSwitch, but nice and quiet.

We didn’t like the app in 2023 and in 2025 it hasn’t improved. After several unsuccessful attempts to get the app to co-operate, I had to operate the Comfort 600 12000 BTU manually.

When the control panel is hard to read even in semi-darkness and has strangely dull buttons, the whole thing becomes a bit laboured and less Comfort.

However, the Comfort 600 12000 BTU is a stable workhorse. It cools quickly and even at a noise level that allowed me to watch programmes on my wall-mounted TV right above the unit.

If chilled air indoors is what you’re looking for, the Comfort 600 12000 BTU does a great job. You just have no guarantee of being able to control the action by remote control, voice or app.
