They are probably best known for their many turntables in all price ranges, but they also produce a number of cartridges for turntables, and now Pro-Ject is launching three new ones.

The input model Pick it PRO is launched in a balanced version, Pro-Ject calls it True Balanced, and the MM pickup has symmetrically balanced signal routing to the phono stage, which removes all noise on the way.

The Pick it PRO Balanced (see image above) is particularly suitable for Pro-Ject’s Phono Box S3 B or Phono Box DS3 B, where B stands for balanced.

The price is listed at 199 euros.

The other two are both Moving Coil cartridges, which with lower output voltage need an MC input on the amplifier. The Pick it MC3 and MC9 are the beginning of a new series of MC pickups, and according to Pro-Ject, they have two different sound signatures.

With fully automatic playback, Pro-Ject has made it easier to enjoy music on vinyl. But compromises are aplenty.

According to Pro-Ject, the more expensive MC9 is the most detailed and dynamic with a large soundstage, while the MC3 is the all-rounder that gives pop and rock a little extra weight and dynamics.

Built in an aluminium housing, the MC9 features 57 Iron square coil wire, cryogenically treated needle arm and 0.35 mV output voltage. It should be loaded with 100 to 470 ohms, needs 1.8 grams of needle pressure and weighs 9.6 grams.

The price is listed at 1,399 euros.

Both have threads for mounting screws so you don’t have to fiddle with small nuts.

The price is listed at 599 euros.
