LG has already released a wide range of OLED TVs so far this year , but in keeping with tradition, they have saved the budget models for the autumn season! The new OLED BX is the successor to the OLED B9, which we named the best of the year in the premium class. The new BX series is clearly related to its predecessor, but has received a number of important updates for 2020.

LG’s new “cheap variant” of OLED comes in 55 ″ and 65 ″ screen sizes (OLED55BX / OLED65BX). When it comes to design, it seems to be more or less exactly the same as the B9, with the same type of center-mounted foot. So the biggest differences are probably “under the hood”.
The BX series uses the new video processor α7 Gen 3, which is a scaled-down variant of the α9 processor we find in models such as OLED CX and GX Gallery OLED. In theory, this may result in slightly less advanced image processing and less efficient upscaling (especially from low-resolution image sources), but it remains in testing practice.
Despite less processing power, the BX series boasts many of the same features we know from the big brothers, including the so-called “AI” image processing. There is also support for Dolby Vision IQ, Dolby Atmos audio, and not least HDMI 2.1 on the connection side. This year’s model has also received important gaming-related features such as nVidia G-sync and AMD Freesync, in addition to VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) which ensures low delay / input layers, high refresh rates and smooth movements.
The LG OLED BX also comes with the smart WebOS (5.0) user interface, full of current streaming services on board, including Netflix, Disney + and Apple TV.
