The Harman Kardon Radiance 2400 is the name of a new home entertainment speaker system that was unveiled at Harman’s autumn event on Thursday.

With two ultra-thin floor-standing speakers, a subwoofer and a digital hub, Radiance should be able to fit into even very design-conscious households. The two satellite speakers measure 180 cm in height, but just 5.1 cm in width and 5.8 cm in depth. Each speaker contains no less than 24 full-range drivers with  1.25″ diameter.

Harman calls the principle Constant Bandwith, and has patented it – but the many drivers in a row will certainly act as a line source. Which provides good coverage in the horizontal plane, so everyone on the sofa can listen in full quality – but virtually no vertical dispersion, which reduces reflections from floor and ceiling.

The bass range is covered by a subwoofer with a 10″ woofer and 200W amplifier power.

The hub, which acts as a link to the three speakers, is more traditional-looking. (Photo: Harman)

There is a digital hub that connects audio from TVs, game consoles and other AV devices while a Wi-Fi connection ensures easy access to HD music streaming via the built-in Chromecast set-up or Apple AirPlay integrated in the speakers.

Price and availability
The Harman Kardon Radiance 2400 will be available during autumn at a price of £3999.99.
